spyware

hello, I am new to this tribe.
I hope this isn't off topic, I really need some help.

I received some annoying spyware while trying to download torrents (oops :(

Every few minutes a new website just pops up from fire fox.
Usually porn. sometimes yahoo?
weird.

i'm sure there are other things slowing down my computer as well, I have so many unnecessary processes running.

Anyone know what programs or methods I can use to fix this?

    Spybot Search and Destroy is perhaps one of the best freeware tools for scumware out there. Just google Spybot S&D.

    As for the other stuff check your CPU speed and RAM, also get rid of some of the useless shit clogging your HDD. Easy fixes, if you know what you're doing. Grab a PC Hardware Technician book at your local library or bookstore.
